MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Family Guidance Center of Alabama is honoring six outstanding families. Each family is unique in their own way. We want to introduce you to one of them. The Air Force has given the Neal family wonderful opportunities but nothing compares to their commitment to each other.
When it comes to teaching lessons, Colonel John Neal and his wife Tracey want to make sure their daughters Crystal 17, Danielle 15 and Tiffani 12 understand the importance of giving back to the community. Colonel Neal said "It's the easiest way to put your faith in action put your money where your mouth is by doing things."
Their faith and action were put to the test when most recently Colonel Neal was deployed to Afghanistan. With dad gone, the goal for the rest of the family was to stay busy. They volunteered by helping other deployed troops by sending care packages overseas. They also became each others rock.
"I think one of the biggest things about our family is our commitment to one another. Supporting what activity the other has whether it's Tiffany with swimming, Danielle with track or Crystal at Auburn just being there for each other," said Tracey.
Her daughter Danielle echoed her mother's sentiments. "We are there for each other."
Being there for each other is key when Dad is away. While Afghanistan wasn't Colonel Neal's first deployment, saying goodbye for his family is never easy.
That's why the Neal family always rely on their faith in God and knowing no matter how far, home is where the heart is.
