OPP, AL (WSFA) - Covington County Sheriff's deputies searched for and arrested an Opp man over the weekend after the intoxicated suspect fled into a wooded area near Randall Road just south of Opp.

Deputies were advised that the suspect, 42-year-old Wiley L. Lowery, may have been armed as he'd already shot out the window in a pickup truck.

Deputies continued to call out to the suspect, and two hours after the incident started Lowery was apprehended and placed under arrest. He was transported to the Covington County Jail.

Lowery is charged with Reckless Endangerment ($3000 bond) and Possession of Protected Wildlife ($1000 bond). The wildlife charge stems from the deputies locating a young deer in a cage that Lowery had in his possession.

This case, is still under investigation with other charges pending.
