Mayor pleads guilty to public lewdness

DOTHAN, AL (AP) - The mayor of a southeast Alabama town and a female companion have both pleaded guilty to public lewdness.

Taylor Mayor Joel Napier and Cynthie Michelle Casper pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge Monday in Dothan city court.

Assistant City Attorney Joe Herring says Napier and Casper were each sentenced to 180 days in jail, but the jail sentences were suspended and each was given two years of probation.

Herring said they were each also ordered to pay $350 fine.

An officer responding to a report of indecent exposure around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 23, 2009 found Casper almost completely nude and Napier with his pants off in a car in a Waffle House parking lot. Casper was 34 at the time of her arrest and Napier was 56.
