Eufaula, AL (WSFA) - 18 years, all at the same school. It's safe to say Mrs. Kim Harris enjoys her time at Eufaula High School. She teaches Algebra and Calculus. Teaching wasn't always in the equation. "My first degree is in engineering, and I couldn't decide what I wanted to do, but I still had a tugging to be in education," Harris said. "So I went back to school and I love it. I have two children of my own, but these are my kids too."
The principal at Eufaula High School nominated Mrs. Harris for our Class Act Award. "She's what every principal and every student dreams of," said principal Steve Hawkins. "She's caring and compassionate."
In this class, it's a formula for success, and she hopes her students will use these skills for years to come. "When they say where will I need to know this, I can say well in engineering here's how it can help you," Harris said. "I have a college roommate who's a nurse, so I'll tell them you need to know this to be a nurse."
Congratulations Mrs. Kim Harris, you're this week's Class Act.
