Verdict reached in Chandra Levy case

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSFA)- A verdict was reached today in the case of a man accused in the killing of Washington intern Chandra Levy.

29 year old Ingmar Guandique, a Salvadoran immigrant, was found guilty of the murder of the Washington, D.C. intern in two-thousand one.

Levy was killed while she exercised in Washington's Rock Creek Park in May of 2001.

Levy's mother says the verdict won't bring her daughter back.

"No matter what my family has in a sentence here, the result of the verdict may be guilty but I have a lifetime sentence of a lost limb missing from our family tree," stated Levy.

Guandique could be sentenced to a minimum of thirty years and a maximum of life in prison.
