Former state trooper fears for his life

GENEVA COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A former Alabama state trooper who pleaded guilty to a civil rights era killing, says he fears for his safety in jail.

Bonard Fowler reports to the Geneva County jail tomorrow to serve a six-month sentence.

The jail has private cells if security for Fowler becomes a concern but jail officials don't expect any problems.

Fowler shot Jimmie Lee Jackson when a 1965 protest march in Perry County turned violent.
