BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Tourists aren't what they used to be.
Birmingham police say they have charged six people from six different states with robbery after a holdup at a service station. None of the suspects are from Birmingham, and police are unsure what brought them to the city or how they are connected to each other.
Police say the suspects entered the Chevron on Friday and began putting items in their pockets. Police say when the owner tried to stop them, the group began beating and kicking him.
The suspects are: 21-year-old Broderick Johnson of Mobile, Ala.; 20-year-old Thurmon Polk of Detroit; 18-year-old Velvet Farmer of Cleveland, Ohio; 27-year-old Howard Washington of Los Angeles; 20-year-old Makesonji Dieudonne of New Rochelle, N.Y.; and 33-year-old Keenan Jefferson of Chicago.
