Jefferson Davis HS Teacher a Class Act

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - For Jefferson Davis High School teacher Cheray Williams, it's all about making a connection with her students. "I believe in getting to know my students more," Williams said. "The more I know them the harder they will work for me because they know that I'm not out to get them, I'm on their team." The 10th grade teacher has spent the last 14 years in the classroom.
Even her former students can't stop bragging about her. "She wasn't like a teacher, more like a parent," said former student Arkita Stevenson. "She was like a mom away from home when we needed her."
Ms. Williams says she had some good teachers to look up to when she was growing up. "I had teachers that were inspiring. They told me about attitude and the importance of a good education, so I wanted to follow in their footsteps and motivate as many kids as possible."
She's motivating them every day at Jeff Davis High School in Montgomery. Congratulations Ms. Cheray Williams, you're this week's Class Act.
