Gov. Riley to sign ethics reform bills into law

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Gov. Bob Riley will today sign seven ethics bills passed during a special session of the Alabama Legislature last week.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Capitol in the old Archives room.

The legislation will ban transfers of funds from political action committees, will limit how much lobbyists can spend on entertaining lawmakers, give the State Ethics Commission subpoena power and ban legislators from having a second state job after November 2014.

Riley will leave office on Jan. 17.
