Last week to donate in 2010, Goodwill opens new center

Post by Web Staff – email | Facebook | Twitter

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) —  Goodwill of Southern Rivers opens its first attended donation center in East Alabama.

The new center is located at 1631 S. College Street in Tiger Crossing, next to Winn-Dixie.

Not only is it grand opening week, but it is also the last week to donate in 2010.

"It's the last week to donate and get the 2010 Donation Tax Receipt," according to Amanda Lister, Donated Goods Specialist, "so we chose to open the doors this week and give the donors a more convenient place to donate."

The majority of GWISR's revenue comes from the sale of donated goods which helps fund its Job Training and Placement programs along with a host of other services to the community through the Goodwill Retail Store and Career Center located at 3740 Pepperell Parkway, in Midway Plaza.

Jane P. Nichols, President & CEO, commented, "This new donation center, and the convenience it will provide, will help to not only increase donations but ensure GWISR's ability to continue to grow services in the Auburn-Opelika community."

Goodwill will have a drawing for an iPad for those who donate and register at the Attended Donation Center during the Grand Opening event.

Donation Hours are:  Monday – Saturday, 9 AM – 8 PM       Sunday, 1 PM – 6 PM

For the locations of our other donation sites please visit www.gwisr.org or call 1-866-325-8265.
