Selma police make arrest in Christmas Eve slaying

SELMA, AL (WSFA) - A Christmas Eve fight ended with one man dead. Now, Selma police have a suspect in custody.

James Arthur Thomas, 19, was arrested Tuesday and charged with the murder of an as-of-yet unidentified victim. Police won't release the victim's name, but will say he was  in his 20s.

Chief William Riley's office said the shooting stemmed from an argument, and it's believed the victim tried to help someone in the fight.

Thomas is being held without bond.
