ALEX CITY, AL (WSFA) - Charges have been filed against a woman whose vehicle struck and injured an on-duty Alabama State Trooper as the two automobiles traveled along the roadway Friday evening.
Authorities on the scene say the office was in a fully-marked Alabama State Trooper vehicle when the collision occurred. The officer, unidentified, was transported to an area hospital with what authorities are calling "mild to moderate" injuries.
The suspect, also unidentified, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence. She was not injured in the collision and did not require treatment.
The collision occurred at 7:00pm on U.S. Highway 280 near the Alexander City Limits.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
