MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) – Workers are getting downtown Montgomery ready for Monday's inauguration ceremonies.
Crews have lined Dexter Avenue with barriers for the parade that will feature more than 90 entries including 40 bands from all over Alabama.
"They wanted all of their events to be inclusive," said Lynn Beshear, the chairperson for the Inaugural Subcommittee. "The Bentley family wanted all of the events to be open and we have striven to make that happen."
The parade will start at 9:45AM at the fountain in Court Square and proceed up Dexter to the State Capitol where it will turn left on Bainbridge and is scheduled to end at 11:30AM.
"It is going to be a classic parade" said Beshear.
The inauguration ceremony will begin at 12PM and is expected to end at 1:30PM. All of Alabama's Constitutional officers will be sworn at that time. Governor-elect Bentley will take his oath of office on the state Bible last.
The inauguration festivities will continue from 2PM until 5Pm at the Montgomery Biscuits' baseball stadium.
Beshear said, "It will culminate at five o'clock with fireworks and while people are at the stadium they will be able to do all sorts of family fun activities: inflatables, free food. The governor and his family will appear of course."
The final event of the evening will be the gala at 7PM at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center downtown.
In the event of rain Monday, then the parade will be canceled early Monday morning and the inauguration ceremony will be moved inside the State Capitol where only family and media will be allowed to observe.
