Auburn fans get glance at BCS coaches trophy

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -  Auburn fans just can't contain themselves, soaking up everything championship related including the chance to snap a shot with the 45-pound piece of sparkling crystal--the BCS Coaches Trophy.

"The most beautiful trophy in the world," says Alene Lawhorn.

Although fans can't touch it, they say basking in its glow for 5 seconds is worth an hour long wait.

But even the line was fun for fans--winding in and out of the Chantilly Parkway Wal-Mart's automotive, gardening and magazine departments and finally ending at the back of the store where the trophy was front and center.

"It's incredible," says Jan Dame.

Dame was in Glendale for the championship game.  She hasn't even been home since she got back from Arizona.

In fact, Wal-Mart was her first stop.

"I have not unpacked or changed clothes or seen my fur babies as we call them. I came straight here to get my picture made," says Dame.

If getting a picture with the championship trophy isn't enough, many fans stocked up on even more Auburn gear, saying the championship win is reason enough to have as much as they can get.

"Half of my closet is all orange, but you can't pass this up.  I don't know when we'll get to do this again," says Teressa Ferrell.

Perhaps the ultimate piece of championship merchandise is a miniature replica of the trophy itself.

"We're going to buy them the replica. We've gotta have the replica. It's a once in a lifetime thing. We gotta have it," says Melinda Burdette.
