MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -  A Montgomery woman offers her own reward to catch thieves in her neighborhood.  She says someone stole thousands of dollars worth of construction equipment she was using to renovate her dream home.

Caroline Eaves said someone broke into a shed on January 10 and stole construction equipment, appliances and other items.  And just this week, the thief tried to break into the house.

"I'm not going to lie to you, I absolutely felt helpless," Eaves said.  "I felt as though somebody had invaded my privacy, the things I had worked for, and they had taken it."

She's now offering a personal reward to catch the thieves and has gone out to area business getting the word out about what happened at her home.

"It's a 600 dollar reward, we've got to do something in terms of fighting back, we can't say it happened, get over it," Eaves said.  "If we want a good neighborhood, we're going to have to take it back.  We're going to have to take back our streets."

Eaves said police are investigating and have some suspects in mind.  If you have information about this crime, call CrimeStoppers at 215-7867.
