DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A Dothan man is charged with two counts of First Degree Robbery in connection with a January 6 armed robbery at the Hobo Pantry on North Oates Street.

Police say Joseph Michael Wood, 26, went into the store around 11:45pm on January 5th where he bought alcohol. He was said to be loitering around in and outside the store.

Just after midnight the clerk said the man approached and asked for twenty dollars. The clerk said after telling the suspect he didn't have any money, Wood said he was armed, demanded money from the register, and then fled on foot.

While officers were on the scene investigating, an employee at the Hobo Pantry on Ross Clark Circle called in a similar incident. While the clerk said he didn't call police immediately because the suspect got no money he heard of the robbery downtown and realized the seriousness of the situation.

Dothan police looked at video surveillance from the Ross Clark Circle Hobo Pantry and confirmed the suspect was the same.

Wood is being held on bonds totaling $40,000.
