MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - Funeral arrangements are once again set for a Millbrook native and U.S. soldier who died serving his country. Spc. Joshua Lancaster was killed in the line of duty while in Afghanistan. He was only a short time away from returning home when family learned the news of his death.
Lancaster's body will arrive at Maxwell AFB Saturday at 10:00am. Citizens wishing to pay final respects are asked to line a procession route on Main Street from Village Green Park to Brookside Drive between 10-11am.
A visitation service for Lancaster will take place at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Millbrook Monday. The sheduled time is 9:30am to noon. Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the Church at the Brook.
The soldier's funeral was initially delayed because of the need to travel to Delaware to take possession of his remains.
The Army says Lancaster was killed from "indirect fire" Wednesday while working at the Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. Lancaster was serving with the 52nd Ordnance Group based out of Fort Campbell.
