Muslim Teacher Sues UofA

An Iranian-American man who taught math at the University of Alabama for more than a decade has sued the university in federal court, saying he was harassed and that preferential treatment was given to others because he is a Muslim.

Seyed Moosavi, who has taught at the university in temporary positions during his entire career at the university, seeks placement in a permanent faculty position for which he applied and compensatory and other damages, the Tuscaloosa News reported in Wednesday's papers.

In the suit filed August 5th in U.S. district court in Birmingham, Moosavi claims that Christian co-workers, including his supervisor and a professor, harassed him because of his ethnicity and religious affiliation.
