Governor Says General Fund Budget Will Be Cut

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - WSFA 12 News has new information on the cuts coming to the state's budgets.

On Friday, Governor Robert Bentley told WSFA 12 news he will have to declare proration, and he expects it to be around 15%.  The general fund budget funds state services like prisons, courts and medicaid.

As for the education budget, the Governor said, "Hopefully, we will not have to do that, the numbers looked good for last month and if they look good this month, we will not declare proration."

Governor Bentley will make a decision at the end of this month.
