BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) – A man from Troy has been declared the winner of the Mercedes Half Marathon.
34-year-old Michael Green crossed the finish line to the half marathon with a time just over an hour and five minutes. Green has finished in the top four in the Mercedes Half Marathon four times.
Green trailed behind a runner named George Towett for most of the race. Unfortunately for Towett, he made a wrong turn at the section of the race that divides the half marathon from the full marathon. Towett was able to take second place after being directed to the proper route to the finish.
