No. 2 Lady Senators defeat Emory, 5-4

MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The No. 2 Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team earned a 5-4 victory over Emory University, the No. 3 ranked NCAA Division III team, Sunday at the AUM Tennis Complex.

With the win, the Lady Senators improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Lady Eagles dropped to 0-2.

In doubles plays, AUM won at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The duo of junior Kveta Hajkova and freshman Jade Curtis rolled at the top spot, 8-0, over the tandem of Zahra Dawson and Lorne McManigle. At the No. 2 position, junior Ana Veselinovic and sophomore Morgane Zowczak outlasted Gabrielle Clark and Jordan Wiley, 9-8 (9-7).

In singles play, the Lady Senators picked up wins from Hajkova at the No. 2 position, Zowczak at the No. 3 spot and Veselinovic at the No. 4 position to earn the 5-4 win.

AUM will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16, when it hosts West Florida at 1 p.m.
