Abbeville teen dead after car strikes tree

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - One of the three Abbeville High School basketball players involved in a crash Friday evening has died in the Wiregrass.

Quintavious Ladon Sampson, 17, of Abbeville died Tuesday at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Sampson was killed after the 1998 Ford Crown Victoria  in which he was passenger ran off the road and struck a tree on February 11.

The accident happened on Henry County 107 south of the Abbeville city limits. The driver, Cordarius Savon King, 17, and another passenger, Siran Neal, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say none of the teens was wearing a seat belt.

The crash is being investigated by the Traffic Homicide Unit of the Alabama State Troopers. 

Once the investigation is completed, the facts of the case will be presented to the Houston-Henry County district attorney, who will present the case to a grand jury.
