MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Directional signage in downtown Montgomery has been a long time coming but well worth the wait. We certainly applaud the efforts of the city to make it happen.
There is much to showcase – so why not help people get where they want to go?
The visitor experience is certainly enhanced now as Montgomery's historical attractions and entertainment venues are showcased in the new way-finding signage system that can be updated as often as needed.
Coming attractions this year include a renovated Cramton Bowl that will kick off the 2011 football season. A multi-purpose sports facility will literally join Cramton Bowl next year – creating quite a showplace for area visitors.
Also this year a new and improved roadway entrance to Maxwell Air Force Base will be completed. Maxwell Boulevard will be an attractive link to downtown. This project has been a long time coming as well but will also be well worth the wait.
Room night bookings hit 21,600 in Montgomery last year, up more than 2,500 from the year before. With a more positive economic outlook and more attractions throughout the city, there is no reason why this number can't hit 25,000 this year!
