Prattville's Police Chief Retiring

Prattville, AL (WSFA) - Prattville's police chief tells WSFA 12 News that he is retiring.

Chief Alfred Wadsworth says he is retiring effective March 31st. He has been the chief for 18 years.

Chief Wadsworth says this has been a very difficult decision but he intends to take advantage of the retirement incentive and retire. He tells WSFA 12 News he hopes that his retirement will help prevent further layoffs in the police department.

WSFA 12 News tried to leave a message on Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie's cell phone, but it doesn't accept messages.  In the last few weeks, Prattville has changed mayors, lost its finance director, city clerk, and is changing its fire chief.
