Bama men’s track & field ready for SEC indoors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 17-ranked University of Alabama men's track and field team will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend to partake in the 2011 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus, Feb. 25 - 27.

Sophomore All-American Kirani James, who already owns the fastest times in the world this year in the 200m (20.85) and the 400m (45.47), will attempt to bring home individual SEC championships in both events.

The Crimson Tide distance medley relay team of Joel Rop, James, Samoei and Julius Bor, will try to better their 9.33:81 mark from two weeks ago to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Freshman Kamal Fuller looks to continue to build upon his impressive first-year resume by pulling his long jump mark within the top-20 in the nation to qualify for nationals. Fuller posted a career best 24-11.75 at the Husky Classic two weeks ago in Seattle.

Alabama athletes missing out on qualifying for NCAA Indoors this weekend will have the opportunity to participate in the Alex Wilson Invitational last chance meet on March 4 – 5, at the Loftus Sports Center at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
