Corporal Dave Brown welcomed home

It was an emotional day across the River Region Friday as one of it's heroes returned home after a grueling five month recovery.  Corporal Dave Brown seriously injured in two accidents in September has returned home.

Montgomery police officer Corporal Dave Brown had no shortage of hugs, tears and well wishes as he saw his home for the first time since September 11th.

Officers from several law enforcement agencies escorted Brown from the Sheperd Center in Atlanta to his home in Prattville.

Captain William Perkins graduated from the police academy with Corporal Brown and helped pull him from the burning ambulance during his second accident.  For Perkins, seeing Brown back home is an answered prayer.

State Troopers also turned out for Brown's return to continue a tradition.  Anytime a motorman wrecks, somebody grabs part of that motorcycle for the officer.  Trooper Darryl Phillips brought Brown a side mirror, it was the only piece of Brown's motorcycle that wasn't destroyed in his accident.  For more than 20 weeks Trooper Phillips keep it at home waiting for this day to finally pass it along.

Corporal Brown is scheduled to begin his physical therapy next week.

We have streaming video of Brown discussing his recovery and returning home on the video player on WSFA.com.
