Middle Tenn. women' s basketball player stabbed to death

MURFREESBORO, TN (WMC-TV) - Murfreesboro Police confirmed Wednesday that the victim of a fatal stabbing at an apartment complex was Memphis native and Middle Tennessee State University Lady Raiders basketball player Clantina Stewart.

According to police spokesman Kyle Evans, Stewart, a 21-year-old junior at MTSU, died as a result of the incident at Raiders Crossing Apartments.

Police were dispatched to the apartments in reference to a disturbance at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday. Tina Stewart and her roommate, 18-year-old Shanterrica Madden, an MTSU freshman, had been in a fight.

Evans said that Stewart suffered multiple trauma wounds and was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where she later died.

Madden has been taken into custody.
