MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The threat of inclement weather in the Montgomery area has forced several changes to this weekend's Southern States Athletic Conference baseball series between Auburn University at Montgomery and Faulkner.
The opening game of the series has been moved up to 1 p.m. on Friday, rather than at the originally scheduled 6 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will be moved to Sunday, with games beginning at 1 p.m.
AUM enters the contest with an 11-11 overall record, while Faulkner sports a 17-2 record.
Junior Brian Wheeler leads the Senators with a .400 batting average, while pacing the team with 14 runs, five doubles and six stolen bases. Wheeler is also second on the team with 11 RBIs.
Fellow junior Andrew Walker has hit a pair of home runs, while junior Rusty Todd has driven in a team-best 12 runs.
On the mound, senior Kyle Mitchell sports a 3-0 record and leads the team with a 1.50 earned run average. Mitchell has struck out 18 in 24 innings pitched, while opponents are hitting just .150 against him. Fellow senior Sam Judah paces the team with three saves, while junior Wes Cook leads the team in strikeouts with 24.
Admission to all home baseball games is just $4, while children 12 and under, as well as all AUM students, faculty and staff, are admitted free. Student tickets are $2.
