Jerrel Jernigan Diary – March 7, 2011 – Pro Day Recap
Last Friday, we held our Pro Day at Troy (University). It was nice to be back on that field with guys I shared a lot of memories with the last 4 years.
I went through all of the tests I did at last week's combine, except for the bench press.
I improved my score on every drill, and I hit most of the goals I set for myself, which is a good feeling.
I ran 4.32 in the forty, which is probably the main thing that scouts and everyone else wanted to see. I said after running 4.46 at the combine that I knew I was faster than that time and I knew I had to prove it then.
I improved in the 3-cone drill, vertical jump, and broad jump, in addition to the forty.
I also ran routes for the scouts. I knew there were a lot of teams in attendance.
Carolina, in particular, brought their wide receivers coach and their special teams coach and they helped instruct some of the drills.
I was nervous about catching punts because they used the jugs machine and I'd never caught punts from one before, but it turned out to be alright and I think I adjusted to that well.
I talked with a few of the teams after Pro Day finished. Atlanta, Carolina, and Green Bay, were a few of the ones I remember speaking with.
They gave me some good feedback about my route running, which is another thing I've been working hard on in my training.
Now that Pro Day is over, I finally get a week off! I'm going to focus on resting and having some fun with my friends and family while I can.
When I get back next week, I'll start doing private workouts with teams. As of now, I think a few have been scheduled. I'm looking forward to those after my break!
