(NBC) - State and federal agencies are urging students to avoid Mexico during spring break.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has said even the resort towns may not be safe.
More than 65 Americans were killed in Mexico in 2010.
Texas State Trooper Robert White said robberies, kidnappings and sexual assaults have all happened in resort towns as of late, which is why they put out the warning.
The U.S. Embassy also sent out a similar statement.
If you have planned to travel to Mexico for spring break, you're encouraged to register with the U.S. Embassy.
