SELMA, Ala.—The No. 23 Auburn University at Montgomery softball team recorded two victories at the Judson College Tournament on Thursday, tallying an 8-1 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods and rolling past host Judson College, 10-1, in five innings.
With the sweep, the Lady Senators extended their school-record winning streak to 16 games and improved to 16-0 on the season.
In the opener, freshman Courtney Baker (8-0) allowed just six hits and one run, while striking out four in a complete-game.
Senior Whitney Wyatt fueled the AUM offense finishing 2-for-3, with a two-run home run. Fellow seniors Taylor Burt and Brandi Richards went 2-for-4, each scoring a run. Freshman Jessica Pepper added a triple, double and two RBIs. Junior Kacie Ryal and sophomore Rachel Stuart each added runs batted in.
In the second game, sophomore Jessica Perry (2-0) allowed only three hits in 4.0 innings of work, while Burt secured AUM's victory with a perfect inning of relief.
Pepper was again an offensive catalyst, finishing 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a single. Burt finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored. Wyatt and Richards each finished with a pair of hits, while junior Danielle Kirkpatrick added two RBIs for the Lady Senators.
AUM will continue its road trip on Friday, when it travels to Gulf Shores, Ala., for a three-day tournament. The Lady Senators will take on Grand View University at 10 a.m. on Friday, followed by St. Thomas-Florida at noon.
