ASU Softball falls to N. Fla.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The Alabama State University softball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but could not hold the lead as the University of North Florida comes back for a 6-4 win.

ASU scored in the first on a Meagan Dixon that scored Brehanna Rodrigues from second base.

The Lady Hornets added three more runs in the third when Dixon doubled scoring Brittnei Price.  A few batters later Macy Rodriguez doubled to score two more runs and ASU held a 4-0 lead.

UNF would not let the lead stand for long as they pushed across five runs on five hits in the fourth to jump back in front 5-4.  Again the inning was continued as ASU committed an error in the field which led the way to three unearned runs.

UNF added an insurance run in the fifth on a Caroline Torre triple that scored Lauren Pollack.

Cortney Radke (10-8) was the third pitcher of the day for UNF and picked up the win pitching 3.2 innings and held ASU hitless and scoreless.

Stephanie Hernandez (2-9) picked up the loss.  She went the distance allowing eight hits and six runs, of which, only three were earned.

UNF gathered eight hits with Pollack having two of those to go along with her two RBI.

The Lady Hornets had six hits and Dixon finished with two hits and two RBI while Macy Rodriguez had two RBI on a hit.

ASU is now 3-15 on the season while UNF is now 12-10.  The Lady Hornets will be back in action Tuesday, March 15, when ASU host Kennesaw State University at 5 p.m. at Lagoon Park.
