MONTGOMERY, AL - Alabama State University's baseball team will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Atlanta to face Georgia State University in a non-conference road tilt.
ASU enters the game with a 5-5 record and has not played in over a week as the weather has kept the Hornets off the diamond.
Jordan Mims leads the Hornet offense with a .333 batting average. Teammate Jourdan Mott is hitting .313 with a team-high two homeruns and 10 RBI.
The Hornets are led on the mound by Anthony Ricciardi who carries a 3.18 earned run average and sports a 1-1 record. Devin Dominguez has pitched 11 innings, all in relief, and carries a 3.27 era and has a 1-0 record.
GSU heads into the game with a 13-4 record, and are 10-1 in home contests. They carry a .286 team batting average which is led by Brett Maxwell's team-high .442 average. He has 23 hits and has scored 10 runs. Ryan Fleming supplies power for GSU with three homeruns and 14 RBI.
On the mound, Nick Squeglia is a team leader with a 1-1 record and a 1.89 era. Justin Malone is 3-0 with a 2.22 era as GSU holds an excellent team era of 3.13.
The Hornets will next be at home on Saturday, March 19 when they host Mississippi Valley State University in a conference matchup. Saturday's game will begin at 2 p.m. and will be played at Crump Field. Sunday the two teams will meet at Paterson Field at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader.
