MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - There's one main reason thousands of fans packed Riverwalk Stadium. "Auburn/Alabama!" says Glenda Gaines.
The rivalry draws folks from not just the state, but the nation. Dave Solka is from Chicago.
"There's a buzz and a fervor everywhere, yes. Roll Tide!"
This year's Capital City Classic was quite the opposite from last year's rainout. Fans say the weather was:
"Clear sky. You couldn't ask for a better temperature," says Alabama fan, Anthony Hall.
"Last year was a little damp. This year was perfect," says Auburn Fan, Carol Nunnery.
There's no doubt the game is a home run for local businesses. Managers at Dreamland BBQ across from the stadium love this annual showdown.
"This has been a slamming day. Every year when Alabama and Auburn play to kick off the baseball season, that's when our summer season starts. Every year," says Bert Miller.
Many have been to the match-up before, but others say it's their first time and it won't be their last.
"It's good for downtown, it's good for Montgomery. It's good for Auburn and Alabama," says Kenny James.
"It's such a tradition and for them bringing this to Montgomery and letting all of us experience this is such a treat for our family," says Susan James.
The Auburn Tigers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide 2-1. It's the third year in a row the Tigers have come away with a win.
