ASU baseball falls at Georgia St.

ATLANTA, Ga. - Mark Micowski had a big game at the plate with three hits, three runs and three RBI to lead Georgia State University to a 14-4 win over Alabama State University in college baseball action.

GSU (14-4) jumped on ASU starter Anthony Riccardi (1-2) scoring six runs on four hits in a little over an inning of work as GSU scored all the runs they needed.

GSU scored two runs in the first, added six more in the second, five in the fifth and a single run in the eighth.

The Hornets could only manage five hits and four runs, pushing across a single run in the top of the fifth and adding three in the top of the ninth, but the damage had already been done.

Jordan Mims had one of those hits and added two RBI.  Chris Davis, Lloyd Kelly, Ron James and Isaac Nykellen all had hits.

GSU had 13 hits in the game as Aaron Schmitz added two and two RBI, while Brandon Williams had a hit and four RBI.

GSU had six pitchers see action in the win with Brandon Best (1-0) picking up the win.  Best threw three innings and only allowed one hit, no runs and had four strikeouts.

ASU (5-6) will be back in action this weekend when they jump into Southwestern Athletic Conference action.  The Hornets will host Mississippi Valley State University.  The two teams will play a single game beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the game being played at Crump Field.  On Sunday, the two teams will play a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. at Paterson Field.
