Tide senior one of 52 in the running for All-America honors

ATLANTA – Alabama senior Tierney Jenkins was named to the State Farm Coaches' All-Region Team, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday. She is now one of 52 in the running for the 2011 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.

The All-Region honor for Jenkins will be added to her growing list of accolades that includes First Team All-SEC honors from both the league coaches and the Associated Press. Throughout her final season with Alabama, she has entered numerous top 10 lists including points, rebounds, blocks and steals. In addition, Jenkins currently ranks 10th in scoring average for a career with 12.5 points per game, while her 15.4 point-per-game average this season is the highest since Dominique Canty had 19.7 during the 1998-99 season.

On Monday, March 21, the list of 52 will be cut down to 40 finalists, who will be reviewed by the selection committee for the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.

Jenkins, and the rest of the Tide, will take part in the 2011 Women's National Invitation Tournament beginning on Thursday, March 17, when Alabama travels to Memphis. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
