Representative Christopher John England (Tuscaloosa) has sponsored a bill in the Alabama legislature that would allow convicted felons of drug crimes to receive food stamps under certain circumstances.

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Change is in the air.  The winter chill is all but a memory with warm spring winds and pollen returning with vigor.

This year in Alabama we have seen significant change in our Alabama Constitutional Offices for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Treasurer and State Commissioner of Agriculture.  The U.S. Congress has two new members representing Alabama's District 2 and District 7.  In our State Legislature the House of Representatives has 33 new faces and in the State Senate, 16 new members have been sworn in.  We urge and will hold accountable all newly elected and re-elected officials to follow through on their promises of positive change.

Change for the sake of change does not serve anyone well.  But, change backed with sound strategy and deliberation with a focus on moving ideas forward and accelerating progress are the types of change we all need, must demand and support.

Change is not easy, but those things in life that are we hold the dearest are those things we fought the hardest for.

I look forward to being a part of the positive change in Central and South Alabama in the years to come as I serve as the new Vice President General Manager of WSFA 12 News.
