No. 4 AUM men's tennis rolls past William Carey in conference opener, 6-3

HATTIESBURG, Miss. --- The No. 4 Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team defeated William Carey, 6-3, in its conference opener on Sunday at Tatum Park.

With the win, the Senators improved to 15-2 on the season and 1-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play. The Crusaders fell to 6-8 on the year, and 3-1 in league play.

The Senators trailed 2-1 after the doubles play, with only sophomores Bruno Savi and Claudio Andrade capturing a victory at the No. 2 position.

In singles play, Savi and Andrade, as well as sophomore Boris Obama and freshman Zinelabidine Jouini each won in straight sets, while sophomore Bence Toth won in three sets to provide the final margin of 6-3.

AUM will return to action on Tuesday, when it travels to Macon, Ga., to take on Armstrong Atlantic. The match is slated to begin at noon.
