NORCROSS, Ga. - Auburn University at Montgomery junior women's tennis player Ana Veselinovic has been selected the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Veselinovic is the second consecutive Lady Senators' player to earn conference honors, as sophomore Morgane Zowczak captured the honor last week.
A native of Herceg-Novi, Montenegro, Veselinovic earned the award after finishing the week a perfect 3-0 in both singles and doubles matches. In her singles matches, she dropped just one game on the week, playing entirely at the No. 1 position. She also teamed with Zowczak to earn three points at the top doubles spot.
On the season, Veselinovic is 16-1 in singles matches, with her only loss coming to the No. 14 player in NCAA Division II, Barbi Pocza of Barry University. She has been nearly as dominant in doubles play, as she sports a 15-2 record with Zowczak.
Veselinovic and the No. 4 Lady Senators will return to action on Tuesday, March 29, when they travel to Macon, Ga., to take on Division II foe Armstrong Atlantic. The match is slated to begin at noon.
