KANSAS CITY, MO. ---- The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team moved up two spots to No. 20 in the second edition of the 2011 NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, which the NAIA released on Wednesday.
The Lady Senators, who currently stand at 25-11 on the season, earned 222 total points, up 23 points from last week.
California Baptist maintained the top spot in the poll, earning 653 points and all 23 first-place votes. Also holding its position in the poll was William Carey (No. 2), Concordia (Calif.) (No. 3), California State-San Marcos (No. 4) and Brenau (No. 5). In all the top seven teams did not change.
The Southern States Athletic Conference leads all leagues with five ranked teams, as AUM, William Carey, Brenau, Belhaven (No. 8) and Mobile (No. 10) were all among the Top 25. Shorter, Faulkner and Brewton-Parker were also among the others receiving votes.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings. The fourth regular season Top 25 will be announced on April 12.
