Alabama player named SEC women's tennis player of the week

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Alabama sophomore Antonia Foehse was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for women's tennis, which was announced on Tuesday by the league office. The honor is Foehse's first of the season and fourth overall for the Crimson Tide.

Foehse had another solid weekend for Alabama, which was highlighted by her come-from-behind victory that clinched the Tide's 4-3 win for an upset of 15th-ranked Arkansas. She backed that up on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-2 win over LSU's Keri Frankenberger to help Alabama sweep the Tigers for the first time since 2003. Foehse is amidst a five-match winning streak in singles that dates back to March 6.

In doubles, Foehse and freshman Mary Anne Macfarlane have been a force at the No. 3 spot, where the pair remains undefeated at 12-0 this season.

Foehse, and the rest of the Tide, returns to action on Friday, April 8, against 34th-ranked Mississippi in Oxford. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
