MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The words "Play ball" will fill the air again this week as the Montgomery Biscuits open their 2011 season. It's hard to believe that it was only 7 years ago that minor league baseball returned to the River Region at Riverwalk Stadium. In that time the Biscuits have won 2 Southern League Championships, welcomed their 2 millionth fan and been a driving catalyst in the resurgence of Montgomery's downtown.
In our hectic - get it done yesterday society – it's nice know there is a place you can go with friends and family to exhale, relax and enjoy. A venue where you can watch the sun set over the Alabama River while dining on dippin dots and a hotdog. A place where fathers will sit with their sons, as their fathers sat with them and share stories about their experiences on the diamond as the game unfolds.
Biscuit Baseball is about found memories of the past and cherished memories to come. Biscuit Baseball is a reminder it's ok to be kid again.
I look forward to seeing you at the ballpark this year - "Play Ball!"
