ASU's Duncan named to all-defensive team

Alabama State men's basketball player Chris Duncan has been named to the Mid-Major All Defensive Team.

Duncan, a 6-foot-8 senior forward from Louisville, Ky., was the SWAC's preseason and regular season defensive player of the year in 2010-11 while also earning third-team All-SWAC honors. He averaged nearly seven points and five rebounds per game and tied for the conference lead in blocked shots per game (1.8 bpg).

Duncan was the foundation of the Hornets' defense which led the conference in field goal percentage defense, and ranked second in fewest points per game allowed, rebounding defense, rebounding margin and blocked shots per game.

Alabama State won 11 of 12 games in February and March to win the SWAC Tournament Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years and fourth time overall in school history.
