The Alabama State University men's tennis team will travel to Alexandria, La. to face Jackson State University Friday in the opening round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) men's tennis tournament. The Hornets enter the tournament as the fifth seed while JSU is the second seed.
The match will be played at the Alexandria Racquet and Aquatic Club and is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday April 15th. The winner of the match will face second-seeded Prairie View A&M University on Saturday at 1 p.m. That match will also be played at the Alexandria Racquet and Aquatic Club.
ASU enters the tournament with a 6-10 overall record and stand 2-4 in conference action. JSU stands 8-7 overall and has a 4-2 conference record.
"Our men have played a lot better over the last part of the season," head coach Bernard Sewell said. "They are playing with more confidence and are going into the opening match expecting to win. It should be an exciting match."
The two teams met earlier in the season with JSU prevailing 6-0 match at the SWAC East vs. West matchups that were played earlier this season in Little Rock, Ark.
