It's been a very busy night. Many people went to bed last night before a serious storm slammed into Autauga County.

WSFA 12 News was able to confirm at least 3 deaths (bringing the state total this morning to at least 7).  The three fatalities were 69 year old Willard Hollon, his 41 year old son, Steve Hollon, and his 38 year old daughter Cheryl Hollon Mitchell.

7 other people were hurt.   2 of them have critical injuries.

The National Weather Service says the tornado was preliminary EF3.

WSFA 12 News is still gathering information, but it's safe to say this storm system will be one for the record books. In a 24 hour period there were 94 reported tornadoes due to the system from Friday/Saturday! Only dawn will reveal the extent of the damage that is currently shrouded in darkness.

WSFA 12 News will have crews out around our coverage area today. Expect Team 12 coverage on our newscasts at 6, 9 and 10 this evening.

Stay safe, make sure your loved ones are okay and take a few minutes to prepare a severe weather plan with your family if you haven't already done so.

Best,
