Devastating storms swept through Alabama last night, leaving many people in need of help. The Red Cross reports via emergency management officials, 75 homes were affected in Marengo County due to the storms.
They say 20 of those 75 homes were destroyed and one person in the county was killed. They reported sheltering 16 people in a Marengo County hotel and say they will do so again tonight for those still in need of assistance. There are also reports three fatalities in Boone's Chapel.
Three or Four homes in Butler County were reportedly affected by the storms, but did not need assistance from the Red Cross. The Red Cross says they are continuing to assist families in need of both mental health and medical health services.
At this time damage assessments are still being conducted.
