ASU men's golf continues hold on second place

The Alabama State University men’s golf team continued its hold on second place at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Golf Championship.  The men did, however, close the gap on first place after shooting a second-day team total of 302.  It was the lowest team total of the day.

The Hornets continue to trail reigning SWC Champion Jackson State University 588-600.  The Hornets trailed by 17 strokes entering Tuesday’s round, but JSU shot a 307 in today’s round, allowing the Hornets to shave five strokes off JSU’s lead.

ASU improved the lead over third place Texas Southern to 23 strokes, after entering today with a six-stroke lead.  TSU shot a 317 in today’s round helping the Hornets up that lead.

John Montgomery shot a 73 in today’s action which was the low round of the day.   Teammate Scott Benson was right behind him with a 74, the second low score of the day.

Corey Price shot a 77 today and Joseph Morrison shot a 78.  Joseph Killebrew shot an 85 and Anthony Dadamo shot a 87.

The final round will begin at 8 a.m. at the Links by the Bayou golf course in Alexandria.
