The Auburn women's tennis team will take on 21st-ranked Arkansas in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at 2 p.m. CT, Thursday in Knoxville, Tenn.
Auburn finished the regular season at 5-17 (1-10 SEC) with a wins over SEC opponent Mississippi State and then No. 68 Boston University. In a season of transition for the program, with a roster made up almost entirely of freshmen and sophomores, Auburn did not hesitate to put together a tough schedule featuring 17 ranked opponents.
In the regular-season meeting with the Razorbacks, Auburn fell 6-1 with sophomore Plamena Kurteva defeating Arkansas' Claudine Paulson, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (6). The series between the two teams is currently at 17-14 all-time in favor of Auburn.
Arkansas finished off the season 16-8 (6-5 SEC). The Razorbacks are coming off a 4-3 win over LSU. Anouk Tigu is the Razorbacks' only ranked player at No. 29 in the nation. Arkansas will also be featuring the No. 19 ranked doubles team of Tigu and Paulson.
