Kamal Fuller, a member of the University of Alabama men's track and field team, has been named the Southeastern Conference men's track and field freshman of the week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Fuller, a native of Jamaica, earned the honor by virtue of three top-5 performances at last Saturday's UTEP Invitational.
His day opened by winning the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.40, followed by a jump of 24-6.5 in the long jump to finish third. He also anchored the Crimson Tide's 4x100m relay team that finished second in 40.81.
His best performances this season in the 110m hurdles (14.30) and long jump (25-0.75) rank sixth and fifth, respectively, in the SEC this season.
Fuller and his teammates will resume the outdoor season on Saturday, April 23 at the Mississippi Open in Oxford, Miss.
