Subject shot on Fairview, Carver High School on lockdown

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

An 18-year-old is in the hospital and Carver High School is on lockdown after a shooting this morning on Fairview Avenue.

According to the Montgomery Police Department an 18-year-old male was shot twice this morning, once in the lower leg and once in the upper leg in the 500 block of West Fairview Avenue. He has been transported to Baptist South Medical Center where he is receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigation indicates a verbal altercation between the suspect and the victim escalated to the shooting.

Carver High School was put on lockdown due to the proximity of the shooting.

MPD has identified a suspect but that suspect has not been taken into custody at this time.
